The working time regulations were introduced in 1998 as a health and safety measure. Average weekly working hours are limited to 48 hours (normally calculated over a 17 week period). Employers are required to take all reasonable steps to ensure that the limits to working times are not exceeded. This includes inquiring whether a person is working elsewhere. Finance Assistant
- Hours: 35 per week

- Location: Agile, Flexible location - inclusive of home working, our head office in Pontypool and travel across Gwent to our various offices.
Purpose of the Post: Providing the organisation’s transactional and processing functions across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and banking.
This role is open to female and male applicants
Key Responsibilities
Full responsibility of Finance and Payroll email inboxes (as the first point of contact) for internal and external enquiries. Full responsibility of coding incoming/outgoing sage data to correct departments and funds
Provide timely processing of accounts receivable transactions, including raising invoices and processing donations and remittances with a month end requirement of debtor Balance Sheet reconciliations.
Provide timely processing of accounts payable transactions, including managing the purchase order process, processing supplier payments & remittances and preparing bank files for payment and month end requirement of Creditor Balance Sheet reconciliations
Provide weekly bank reconciliations
Manage petty cash, ensuring that cash is banked regularly, all transactions are posted to Sage and monthly reconciliations are completed.
Provide monthly payroll and pension administration, ensuring that data is submitted to the payroll provider in a timely manner and the provider’s reports are validated prior to being passed to the Assistant Accountant for posting. Month end requirement of Payroll/pension/PAYE Balance sheet reconciliations
Ensure that all relevant Excel templates are rolled over annually
Administer Sage accounting software, including setting up new users, codes & suppliers, managing user access and uploading bulk journal files.
Other ad hoc tasks as required
Collaborate with the wider Finance Team to ensure the delivery of a high quality and comprehensive service to the organisation
Facilitate the active participation of Managers across the organisation in understanding finance processes and the role that they play in providing complete and accurate inputs.
Continuously monitor and review finance policies and processes and implement changes where necessary, ensuring these reflect Cyfannol Women’s Aid’s needs and culture.
